Areas of Experience

LGBTQIA+ Therapist

Being a therapist in the LGBTGIA+ community means having a deep understanding of the unique challenges and experiences faced by individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, intersex, asexual, and other non-heterosexual/cisgender identities. It involves creating a safe and inclusive space for clients to explore their identities, navigate discrimination and stigma, and work towards personal growth and healing. As a therapist, it is important to be knowledgeable about the specific needs and concerns of this community, and to approach therapy with cultural humility and sensitivity.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that was originally used to treat borderline personality disorder. It has since been adapted to treat a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. DBT focuses on teaching individuals skills to manage their emotions, improve their relationships, and cope with stress in a healthy way.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps individuals understand and manage their emotions and behaviors by exploring their internal "parts." These parts are different aspects of the self that can hold conflicting beliefs, emotions, and desires. IFS therapy aims to help individuals identify and communicate with these parts in a healthy and productive way, leading to greater self-awareness and emotional healing.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness in therapy is a technique that involves being present in the moment and focusing on one's thoughts and feelings without judgment. It can help individuals become more aware of their emotions and reactions, and develop a greater sense of self-awareness. Mindfulness can be used in various types of therapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.
